Rest is for the Strong

This snapshot is from a few weeks ago when I was soaking up the sun in the backyard. Today it is snowing!

Today, my body is telling me to take it easy. My body feels like 1000 lbs., thanks to overall body fatigue from rheumatoid arthritis (a faulty immune system condition). My face is itchy and mouth aches due to erythema multiforme.

I’m thankful for a purposeful mid-week light work load and the opportunity to rest this evening. I knew I was doing “too much” yesterday. But, I hate not being productive and social, so I press on.

It’s OK to take time for yourself. You need to refresh and rejuvenate, even if you don’t have chronic health problems. I’m still learning not to feel guilty when I simply need to slow down and focus on self-care. It’s hard. I feel bad declining offers to do things with friends and family.

Today I will drink a lot of fresh juice, stay extra warm and find comfort behind my keyboard. Tomorrow will be a better day!
