Pausing to Celebrate My Healing Health Achievements

Pausing to Celebrate My Healing Health Achievements

I just can’t believe how much you’ve been doing lately!

Right?

After a friend reflected on my new level of activity, I paused to noticed how the slow journey of healing has truly amplified my energy levels, physical abilities and overall enjoyment in life.

For those who are new here, let me back up a bit. I’ve spent eight months healing from chronic reactivated Lyme disease, a lingering strep infection, mold, heavy metals and more hidden issues that were slowly stealing my daily energy levels and causing a laundry list of debilitating neurological issues.

Taking the reins and healing these issues has also lessened my autoimmune reactions related to rheumatoid arthritis, celiac disease and atopic dermatitis (a form of eczema).

I truly feel like I’m on the better side of managing multiple chronic health conditions.

Just last weekend I spent Saturday morning finishing a tech article for a marketing client, and drafted a new article for a pet product company. Then, I took my dog to obedience class. We even went early to practice our homework around lots of interesting pet store distractions. THEN, (yes, there’s more!), my boyfriend and I went tubing at a local lake for a few hours. Sunshine. Paddling. Floating. It was a nice mixture of rest and doing.

And, a “doing” packed day like this wasn’t remotely possible last summer without having a severe symptom flare up the next day.

I am grateful for my friend encouraging me to look into a holistic approach to healing. I’m thankful for my doctors. I’m overwhelmed by the love and support from friends and family over the years as I’ve navigated the ups and downs of so many health issues.

I kind of can’t believe I am where I am at this moment.

It really is an eye opener to go from shopping for a rolling walker on Amazon because your balance is off from Lyme disease affecting your brain to going on a three-mile hike and having enough energy to still set up camp and cook a meal outdoors over a fire.

I feel like I’ve gained more hours in each day of my life.

Of course, I still balance my days and rest often. I love a good nap. I eat tons of veggies, legumes, fruits, nuts, leafy greens and protein to fuel my body with dense nutrients. I prioritize sleep. And sometimes I cancel plans to be sure I’m putting my health needs first.

It’s not an easy journey, but it’s mine.
