Paper plates drive me crazy. For the last seven weeks we’ve been completing repairs to our kitchen, which means keeping meal prep simple and disposable. I can’t wait to get back to ceramic dishes — and gasp! — washing real plates again.
I kind of feel the same way about my dogs’ serve ware.
I think they should have nice dog bowls that promote healthy meals. Yes, healthy meals go beyond the food you put in the bowls. After learning that dogs who gulp their food too quickly at awkward angles can cause them to get bloat (a life-threatening stomach-twisting illness), I’m a little particular about meal time for my two dogs, Belle and Orion.
To keep them healthy, we feed them small meals, three times a day, often at an elevated level and in clean bowls. It’s also a good idea to avoid dog walks and other strenuous activities one hour before and one hour after meals to avoid bloat.
So when Loving Pets sent some new bowls for my furry friends to try out, I was thrilled! Here’s the scoop on two of the dog bowls in their line up.
Bella Bowls Cosmopolitan Blue: This bowl features a bacteria-resistant stainless steel inner lining. It’s easy to wipe clean and can be washed in the dishwasher. I love that it has a rubber ring on the base, so the bowl won’t slide across my slick wood floors. Plus, the bone pattern is just too cute. I tried out the large size, which is more than enough space for the 1 1/2 to 2 cups of dry kibbles my weimaraner gets at each meal.
Robusto Bowls: This thick, heavy-duty bowl is sturdy! It’s made of heavy gauge aluminum and a ceramic-like interior to make it extra rugged. It’s perfect as a weighted water bowl. This bowl does require hand washing to preserve the decorative bone pattern on the inside.
What features do you look for in a dog bowl?
Until next time,
Choose healthy!
