Each day I try to get lots of greens into my diet. Spinach, kale, Brussels spouts, green beans, zucchini, cucumber. They’re all part of my weekly shopping list.
Recently I had the pleasure of trying a new green: moringa. Have you heard of it? I stumbled across this nutrient dense superfood while doing some research for a healthy food article for work. The nice folks at Kuli Kuli sent me a sweet Thank You note and some samples to try.
Oh, yes! I’m always up for tasting a healthy new food!
First, I tried the organic, raw, vegan powdered moringa. It’s super easy to add to a smoothie to give you an extra burst of nutrition in the morning. It has twice as much protein and four times as much calcium as you find in kale. Nice! It’s also a fabulous source of iron, fiber, and B vitamins.
To be honest, I’m always a little hesitant to add too many greens to my smoothies, unless it’s an all green drink. The earthy taste can get overwhelming, but I find that moringa has a very light green flavor and is less bitter than spinach.
You can also get moringa via handy superfood bars. They’re sweet and a perfect afternoon snack that you don’t have to feel guilty about eating because they are less than 200 calories each.
Have you ever heard of moringa? Have you tried it? Tell me about it in the comments below. You can leave a note using your Facebook login or the comment form.
Until next time,
Choose healthy!
