Cupcakes are incredibly versatile. Just think of how many millions of combinations of cake, frosting, filling and topping flavors could be created in one simple, hand-held dessert?
Yesterday I attended a wedding featuring strawberry lemonade cupcakes. Lemon cake was topped with rich strawberry frosting. They also offered peanut butter cup cupcakes made from chocolate cake and peanut butter frosting.
One of my favorite combinations to make at home is lemon cake filled with thick homemade blueberry sauce, topped with whipped cream cheese frosting. Decadent!
