As we wrap up the month, I’ve decided to a launch a new type of post here on the Cupcakes and Yoga Pants blog.
I’m going to share a monthly reflection post on the last Tuesday of each month to highlight what I’ve been reading, listening to, writing and doing.
Without further ado, here’s August!

I’m Off to Canada Next Week
I’m super excited to trek from Iowa to Ontario to attend the Fireside Conference. It’s an exclusive invite/app-only conference for entrepreneurs, influencers, investors and small business folks held at a kid’s summer camp.
I was invited to share my experiences as an influencer and being a marketing content writer. I can’t wait to relax by a bonfire while chatting about editorial guidelines and serial commas. No, really. I’m nerdy like that.
The Summer Series Rocked!
I just completed a four-part summer self-care series here on the Cupcakes and Yoga Pants blog. We explored gratitude, reflection, checking-in and finding acceptance. I’m so thankful for all the reader feedback on these posts. They were a true joy to write!
If you missed out, here they are again:

A Few Books to Check Out
My local library is part of Libby, a free app filled with e-books and audio books. I’ve been trying to make better use of this amazing tool to offset random social media scrolling in the evenings.
I’ve recently enjoyed reading about the Buddha mindset in Radical Acceptance by Tara Brach. And right now I’m listening to The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck by Mark Manson. If you need a laugh, and to lighten up, get this book!

4 Ways to Get a Better Workout
What’s going on in your neck of the woods? Have you adopted any new self-care activities? I’ve started walking most mornings or on my work breaks. It sneaks a little more movement into my day, allows me to soak in some good vibes from nature and clear my head.
I’d love to hear what you’re up to in the comments below!
Until next time,
Choose healthy!
Angela
PS: I bought a pocket camera for my trip! If you like the nature shots in this post, they were snapped with my new Canon PowerShot SX740. I’m still figuring out the settings, but so far it’s a sharp little point and shoot!
