Always Share Your Smile

Always Share Your Smile

Last week I was caught off guard.

I climbed into the pool for my usual aqua therapy class and greeted my friends. The woman from the Ukraine and I did our usual multilingual greetings in Russian, English and French. The animal-loving lady flashed a big wave and smile. And, one lady was excited to tell me about her new grand baby who shares her birthday!

It was a pretty typical Friday morning catching up with the ladies and gents I’ve been exercising with for the past two years.

Then one of the men approached and asked if I noticed how people flock to me when I get into the pool. I had no idea what he was talking about. Then he went into the most eloquent, blush inducing, observation. He said that I breathe youth and vitality into our predominately senior-aged group. My smile is infectious and the class just isn’t same without me on the days I miss.

I was taken back.

What a kind, wonderful thing for him to notice and say. I’m generally a positive, happy person, but I don’t really think too much about how it affects the people around me. I’m just being me.

I guess it goes to show that it’s beneficial to put a smile on your face, even when you’re having a rough week (I had missed the two previous classes due to a home emergency) because you never know who it might bring joy to.

Until next time,
Choose healthy!
