My fur babies are becoming senior citizens.
This fall they will turn 11 and 12-years-old, but you’d never know it by the way they dance around when they see you grab a leash.
But when it comes to meal time, they are getting incredibly picky. The older dog, Orion, will go all day without eating if the meal just isn’t appetizing enough. So, the hubby and I have had to get a little creative when it comes to feeding our furry friends.
Here are four ways we get our old, picky dogs to eat!
1. Add water to dry kibble. Our Blue Buffalo Large Breed Senior food makes a nice gravy that entices the dogs to eat when the food is moistened.
2. Add a scoop of soft food to the top of the dry kibble. This gets their appetites going, and hopefully they continue eating.
3. Sprinkle a little food from another company on top of their usual kibble. I recently received some free dog food and treats from Wellness as a Klout Perk, so I’ve been sprinkling it on top of my dogs’ meals to entice them to eat. It works!
4. Season the kibble with some low sodium chicken or beef broth. Mine like it warmed. No, my dogs aren’t spoiled.
